I have never written a review before but feel compelled to do so after spending $36 on cupcakes at this place yesterday. Given the current trend of cupcake shops popping up across the US I was super excited to try a new one in KC. We were celebrating some bdays at the office and I thought I’d splurge. $36 is pretty much the going rate on a dozen of gourmet cupcakes these days so I was not surprised to see that that is what they were charging for their cupcakes here as well. What DID surprise me was not only how awful they smelled when I opened the box but also how even more awful they tasted when I took just one bite! They were the worst cupcakes or any baked good for that matter that I ever ate- EVER! Even worse than baked goods you would get at some grocery stores or all-you-can-eat-buffets! The cake is very dry and tastes like a low grade/poor quality boxed mix which evidently it is and the icing is most definitely from a can- but not even the good kind! I took one bite out of 3 of my 12 cupcakes and threw the entire box out. What a waste of $36!! I would never in a million years come back here for what I thought was a gourmet cupcake and I am appalled that they are charging so much money for what tastes like flavored (barely) cardboard with Crisco on top. I gave them 1 star because I wasnt able to write this review unless I chose atleast 1 star and I really wanted to caution anyone wanting to spend almost $40 here like I did.
